Weymouth: Man arrested after being found with class A drugs

A man has been arrested after he ‘dropped a bag of white powder, which upon testing was confirmed to be a class A drug.’

Officers from Weymouth and Portland Police executed a warrant at an address in Gloucester Mews, Weymouth yesterday after receiving information about antisocial behaviour in the area.

Two people were found in the property and detained whilst searches took place and officers located a quantity of class B and C drugs.

Whilst searches were taking place, a man known to police entered the property and was swiftly detained and searched which is when he dropped the bag of class A drugs.

He was then taken into custody to assist officers with their enquiries.

A spokesperson for Weymouth and Portland Police said: “Officers from Neighbourhood Policing and Neighbourhood Enforcement teams executed a warrant at an address in Gloucester Mews, Weymouth.

“This comes from community intelligence of drug dealing and Anti-Social Behaviour in the area.

“Upon entry, officers found two people in the address who were detained while a search was completed. Inside the address, officers found a quantity of Class B and Class C drugs.

“While officers were inside, a known male entered the address, who was quickly detained and searched. While being searched, the male dropped a bag of white powder, which upon testing was confirmed to be a Class A drug for which he was arrested for.

“He is now in custody assisting us with our enquiries.”
