Two men were arrested and suspected cocaine seized in Southport yesterday (Thursday 11 April) after a car was stopped.
At around 1pm, officers stopped the car on Falkland Road and detained two men inside.
Following
a search of the men, a large quantity of white powder was discovered.
More suspected cocaine was found during a search of a nearby house, as
well as a large quantity of cannabis, cash and paraphernalia linked to
drug supply.
A
52-year-old man and a 46-year-old man, both from Birkdale, were
arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A and B
drugs (cocaine and cannabis).
Sergeant Sean Harrison said:
“Thanks to the vigilance of our officers, we have not only been able to
seize a large quantity of suspected Class A and B drugs destined to
cause harm in our communities, but also arrest two men suspected of drug
supply.
“We continue to relentlessly pursue those involved in
drug dealing and serious and organised crime across Merseyside, and
police the roads so that they cannot use the road network to transport
their illicit substances.
“Those who participate in the supply of
drugs at any stage are helping to sustain a despicable trade that
relies on violence and intimidation.
“Whenever we seize illegal
drugs, it hits drug dealers where it hurts – in their pockets. They are
prepared to exploit vulnerable people and bring fear and harm into the
heart of communities in Merseyside just to fund their lifestyles.
“We
will never tolerate that, and will continue to conduct warrants,
arrests, stop searches and land searches all year round to bring
offenders to justice.
“If you have any concerns about drugs in
your community, please come forward, either directly or anonymously, and
we will take action to make our streets safer.”
